Tools for Inclusive Teaching: Open Access Resources for Future Educators Webinar

As teacher candidates gear up for a new school year, having the right resources makes all the difference. In this webinar, Laurie Balsano Wright and Leah Padilla showcase a collection of Open Access resources, which includes resources such as how to design an inclusive learning experience, plan for learner variability, and collaborate effectively. This session highlights practical tools that support future educators exactly where they need it most.

Early Life Adversity

This video from our Mythbusters series challenges the common misconception that poverty and early life adversity “damage” children’s brains. We encourage educators to shift from a deficit-based perspective to an equity lens, seeing themselves as active agents in shaping brain development and opportunity. Grounded in developmental neuroscience, the video explores how children’s brains adapt to their environments and highlights the powerful role educators play in fostering resilience through supportive relationships, predictable routines, and language-rich learning experiences.

UDL in Action: Bringing Inclusive Design to Life Webinar

What does accessibility look like in action? In this webinar, participants get an inside look at how educators are bringing Universal Design for Learning (UDL), assistive technology (AT), and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) to life in real classrooms. This session highlights authentic examples of learning environments, lessons, and instructional practices designed with learner variability in mind.

Academic Language

This course series helps practicing and pre-service educators better support linguistically diverse students through culturally responsive, relevant, and sustaining practices. Participants will choose a pathway that offers practical strategies, real-world examples, reflection activities, and classroom-ready resources that help educators build on students’ cultural and linguistic strengths while creating more inclusive learning environments:

• Emergent Bilingual Speakers Pathway introduces emergent bilingual students and strategies for their academic language development, including translingual inquiry.
• African American English (AAE) Speakers Pathway covers grammatical traits of AAE and strategies for supporting AAE speakers’ academic language development.
• Indigenous Language Speakers Pathway surveys Alaska’s linguistic landscape and introduces California’s Native American student population.
